Palo Alto Newborn Photographer: What to Expect from an In-Home Session

If you’re expecting a baby (or just had one) first of all: congratulations. As a Palo Alto newborn photographer, I know how much is on your plate right now. Between feedings, diaper changes, and trying to remember the last time you drank water, thinking about newborn photos might feel like just another task.
That’s exactly why I’ve created a photography experience that’s designed to be simple, comforting, and easy on your already-full brain.
As a newborn photographer based in Palo Alto, I specialize in natural, in-home sessions. That means no rushing to a studio. No stiff poses. No pressure to have it “all together.”
You just stay cozy at home with your baby, and I’ll gently capture these first moments just as they are.

Why More Palo Alto Families Are Choosing Natural Newborn Photography

The truth is, a lot of families I work with tell me they just want photos that actually look and feel like their real life not something overly styled or posed. And honestly, same. That’s what I’d want too.

Palo Alto parents are thoughtful and intentional. They value quality, but they also want simplicity. You don’t need flower crowns or baskets to make your baby look beautiful. You just need good light, a calm approach, and someone who sees the magic in the everyday moments.

In-home sessions give you exactly that. Your baby stays cozy. You stay comfortable. And we capture the quiet, natural beauty of your growing family just as you are.

What Makes In-Home Newborn Sessions So Special

There’s something really emotional about photographing a newborn in the home they’re being raised in. Your couch. Your bed. The soft light coming through your kitchen window. These are the spaces that will shape your baby’s early memories and they deserve to be part of the story.

When I show up for a session, I’m not bringing props or staging anything unnatural. I’m coming in gently, with a camera and a deep respect for how tender this time is. I’ll guide you just enough, but most of the time, I’m just quietly documenting what’s already unfolding, sleepy snuggles, tiny fingers holding yours, the way your partner looks at your baby with pure awe.

It’s not about perfect poses. It’s about preserving connection.

If the idea of professional photos makes you feel a little nervous, you’re not alone. A lot of the parents I work with tell me the same thing. But once we begin, you’ll see how relaxed and easy the whole experience can be.

Here’s what a session looks like from start to finish:

Step 1: Reach out to book. Most families contact me during the third trimester, but it’s okay if your baby is already here. I’ll do my best to fit you in.

Step 2: I’ll come to your home when your baby is between 7–21 days old, or whenever you’re ready.

Step 3: We’ll spend 1–2 hours together. I’ll gently guide you, but there’s no rush and no pressure.

Step 4: You’ll get an online gallery with all your fully edited, high-resolution images.

Step 5: You can choose a custom album. I’ll handle everything for you, so you don’t have to design it yourself.

You can keep things simple with soft, neutral outfits. You can feed or change your baby whenever you need to. This isn’t a photoshoot you have to “perform” for. This is a space to just be, and let me capture what that looks like.

Do You Offer Albums or Just Digitals? (Hint: You Can Have Both)

Most of my families want all the digital images and you’ll get them. I don’t make you pick and choose favorites or upgrade to unlock your full gallery. Every session includes all of your photos in high-resolution, ready to download, share, or print.

But for those who love having something tangible, I also offer beautiful, handcrafted leather albums. If you’re the kind of person who wants to have it all in one place (but doesn’t want to spend hours designing it), I’ve got you covered. I’ll take care of the layout and design, and you’ll receive a timeless keepsake ready to display or gift to family.

Working with a Newborn Photographer in Palo Alto: Is It the Right Fit for You?

Here’s what I know about the families who choose to work with me. You care deeply about your home and your family. You want to remember this season, but you also want the process to feel respectful, easy, and kind.

You love simplicity. You value meaningful photography over trends. You want real, not perfect.

You might be running on very little sleep. You might be wearing a robe for half the session and I promise, that’s completely okay. The families I work with aren’t trying to impress anyone. They just want to be present and to remember what this season felt like.

If that sounds like you, I’d love to work with you.

Ready to Book Your Newborn Session?

I only take a limited number of sessions each month so that I can give every family the attention they deserve. If you’re expecting, or if your baby is already here and you’re still figuring it all out, I’d love to help you document this time without adding stress to your life.
